Annual Membership runs from 1 January to 31 December each year. Members enjoy great benefits including:

Your membership fee contributes to keeping Mount Stuart House & Gardens open to the public, supports on-going conservation work and helps us to provide work experience and opportunities to young people on the Isle of Bute. Thank you for your support - we couldn't do it without you!

How to purchase

Membership can be purchased online or in person at Mount Stuart (by prior appointment only). We strongly recommend purchasing your membership online as you will receive an automated email which provides access to your membership portal. This is where you will manage your personal details and book complimentary tickets to visit.

Isle of Bute Residents

All Isle of Bute residents are entitled to concessionary membership rates, please select the appropriate 'Bute' membership. Proof of residence is required to obtain a Bute Membership e.g. a current council tax statement with a Bute address. Your Bute home must be your primary residence and not a second home.

Membership Cards & Car Passes

Membership cards & car passes can be collected from the ticket office during our open season or by prior appointment out of season. Please bring your membership card with you when you visit and display your car parking pass when using the visitor car park.

Garden Access Out of Season

Membership entitles you to access our gardens out of season. Please be aware that no visitor facilities are available during our closed period (November to March). On days when poor weather is forecast, and in particular when the MET Office issues a Red, Yellow or Amber warning for wind, the site will remain closed and access is not permitted for safety reasons. 

FAQs

Q. How do I know if the Couple Membership is right for me?
A. The Couple Membership provides access to the membership portal for one main contact. If you would both like access to the portal, please purchase individual memberships.

Q. What age are Concession Memberships valid for?
A. Concession Memberships are for persons aged 60 or over.

Q. How do I book complimentary House visits in-season?
A. Please log into the new membership portal to book your visits online. Your email confirmation will then be scanned at the main entrance to the house, you do not need to go to the ticket office.

Q. How do I access the new membership portal?
A. When you purchase your membership online, an email will be sent to you containing a membership reference and a link to activate your account in the portal.

Q. I'd like to sign up for membership but it's already part-way through the year, do you offer reduced rates?
A. We don't currently offer part-year membership however we hope to launch a direct debit option in the near future.

Q. I've bought a Family Membership valid for up to 2 adults and 3 children, can I share it with my friends?
A. No, Memberships are only valid for the persons detailed at the time of purchase and cannot be transferred.
