Alphabet Soup: interactive tour of smell the book
Allow Oisín Byrne's exhibition to come alive through a fun-filled dive into alphabets, languages, songs and the dressing up box with this family friendly curator led tour.
About the exhibition
The starting point for Oisín Byrne’s exhibition at Mount Stuart is one of the archive’s less well-known collections: its Gaelic and Irish books and pamphlets. Running until 20th October 2024, smell the bookincludes a new series of paintings combining markings and glyphs from the archive with graphology from writers in Byrne’s own library.
The paintings are complemented by installations of song and film. Byrne and musician Naoise Hardiman May have collaborated on the orchestration of these electropop songs to acoustic strings which, with accompanying video, are displayed around the house.
This event is suitable for families with children aged 5- 10years. Tickets are free but places are limited so please book.
