Dumfries House: End Of An Era. Specialist Talk & Supper Club

In 2007, the sale of Dumfries House to a consortium headed by the then Prince Charles caused a media sensation across the world.

The story of the 'saving' of the house and many of its contents has been told often in the years since in print, online and on radio and television.

Those stories have tended to provide only one side of the picture and not always accurately. In this talk Andrew McLean, who was then the Bute Family curator and archivist, tells, for the first time, a different story, that of the last years of Bute family ownership and what was ultimately lost in the 'saving' of Dumfries House.

Join us, on Friday 20 September for a specialist talk, given by Andrew, followed by our monthly Supper Club. Ticket details for each event are at the bottom of this page.
