We are delighted to welcome you to Mount Stuart for a fascinating evening delving into the history of the Shields family and Billy Shields' time working at the 'big hoose'.
When Mount Stuart was a private family home, the Crichton-Stuart family had a dedicated team of staff to help ensure the house and estate ran like clockwork. The Shields’ family is one of several families who have generational connections to Mount Stuart and the Crichton-Stuart family, with Billy Shields being the most recent in a long line of staff members. Join us for a wonderful insight into his family’s working relationship with Mount Stuart for over 100 years.
About February's Speaker
Billy Shields first worked for the Crichton-Stuart family between 1965 and 1967 as a Trainee Keeper. Following a career in the Army between 1967 and 1982, Billy returned to Bute and worked for the family in different capacities, including Chauffer and Butler. Prior to retirement, he was Mount Stuart Trust’s Countryside Ranger.

- Doors open at 5:00pm for a 5:30pm talk start
